I Can't Tell You Why

I Can't Tell You Why
The Eagles

(Timothy B. Schmit)

Look at us baby, up all night
Tearing our love apart
Aren't we the same two people who lived
through years in the dark? Ah-ah
Every time I try to walk away
Somethin' makes me turn around and stay
And I can't tell you why

When we get crazy, it just ain't right
Girl, I get lonely too
You don't have to worry, just hold on tight
'Cause I love you

Nothin's wrong as far as I can see
We make it harder than it has to be
And I can't tell you why
-no,baby
I can't tell you why
I can't tell you why

Every time I try to walk away
Somethin' makes me turn around and stay
And I can't tell you why,
no, oh baby
I can't tell you why
I can't tell you why
I can't tell you why

Desperado

This song, by the Eagles, is sung by one of the daughters in the film "In America" to her father, at a school play. In the context of an event in the film, it was very moving, and I thought it was a great film.

Desperado,
Why dont you come to your senses?
You been out ridin' fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard one
I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you
Can hurt you somehow

Don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy
She'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet

Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can't get

Desperado,
oh, you ain't gettin no younger
Your pain and your hunger, they're driving you home
And freedom, oh freedom, well that's just some people talking
Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day
You're losing all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?

Desperado,
Why dont you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be raining, but there's a rainbow above you
You'd better let somebody love you, before it's too late

Feel The Wrath Of Pelosi!

Ah yes, the bain of every right-wing knucklehead and wingnut; Nancy Pelosi, the new House Majority Leader, will now take the helm of a Democratic majority Congress! Congratulations, Dems, and all of the majority of American people who have voted to set this country back on track! Rove, Rumsfeld, Rice, Gonzalez, Cheney and Bush, must be quavering like some folks who've got some things to quaver about! I'm really hoping that her new Judiciary Committee leader, John Conyers, will immediately begin to put forth the investigations pertaining to how we got involved in Iraq, the crimes of Katrina, and the elections manipulations which have occurred in the last six years. So much work to do! Oh, if we can only have the Senate too! The right propaganda machine (the same machine that gave you both Iraq as well as 'heck of a job Brownie', and so much more) has portrayed Nancy Pelosi as a San Francisco liberal, boogieman/woman for such a long time now. Well, I'm hoping the ascent of Ms. Pelosi means the beginning of the end of six years of incompetence, crimes, and rampant cronyism, and signals the return of sanity and respect for the nation again. Go give 'em hell, Nancy!
