I Can't Tell You Why

I Can't Tell You Why
The Eagles

(Timothy B. Schmit)

Look at us baby, up all night
Tearing our love apart
Aren't we the same two people who lived
through years in the dark? Ah-ah
Every time I try to walk away
Somethin' makes me turn around and stay
And I can't tell you why

When we get crazy, it just ain't right
Girl, I get lonely too
You don't have to worry, just hold on tight
'Cause I love you

Nothin's wrong as far as I can see
We make it harder than it has to be
And I can't tell you why
-no,baby
I can't tell you why
I can't tell you why

Every time I try to walk away
Somethin' makes me turn around and stay
And I can't tell you why,
no, oh baby
I can't tell you why
I can't tell you why
I can't tell you why

I think you might like this one; it's not really a typical Eagles song. And I'll bet that you probably have heard this one before, once you hear it again.

Have A Wonderful Thanksgiving, Willowtree!!

Xscape covered this in the nineties and introduced it to a heck of a lot of r&b listeners who probably think the Eagles is a football team--not that they're not but you understand

Frank, you were right. I have heard this song before, but I did not know it was the Eagles performing. Good one, now I have two Eagles songs. Ha

I'd never heard of Xscape, GC, but that name reminded me of Expose, who were big in the '80's, but then faded away by about 1990 or so. The Eagles, Expose, Xscape, once big names, but now remembered only here and there (unfortunately), I guess.

Willowtree, I'm glad you have two Eagles songs now! This one I've always liked; I initially thought that it was a woman singing, but it's the high voice of Timothy B. Schmit of the Eagles. I still like it; it's now a classic that everyone seems to know.
