A Long Walk

A Long Walk
Jill Scott

You're here, I'm pleased
I really dig your company

Your style, your smile, your peace mentality
Lord, have mercy on me
I was blind, now I can see
What a king's supposed to be
Baby I feel free, come on and go with me

Let's take a long walk around the park after dark
Find a spot for us to spark
Conversation, verbal elation, stimulation
Share our situations, temptations, education, relaxations
Elevations, maybe we can talk about Surah 31:18

Your background it ain't squeaky clean shit
Sometimes we all got to swim upstream
You ain't no saint, we all are sinners
But you put your good foot down and make your soul a winner
I respect that, man you're so phat
And you're all that, plus supreme
Then you're humble, man I'm numb yo
with feeling, I can feel everything that you bring

Let's take a long walk around the park after dark
Find a spot for us to spark
Conversation, verbal elation, stimulation
Share our situations, temptations, education, relaxations
Elevations, maybe we can talk about Revelations 3:17

Or maybe we can see a movie
Or maybe we can see a play on Saturday (Saturday)
Or maybe we can roll a tree and feel the breeze and listen to a symphony
Or maybe chill and just be, or maybe
Maybe we can take a cruise and listen to the Roots or maybe eat some passion fruit
Or maybe cry to the blues
Or maybe we could just be silent
Come on, Come on

Let's take a long walk around the park after dark
Find a spot for us to spark
Conversation, verbal elation, stimulation
Share our situations, temptations, education, relaxations
Elevations, maybe we can talk about Psalms in entirety

Let's take a long walk around the park after dark
Find a spot for us to spark
Conversation, verbal elation, stimulation
Share our situations, temptations, education, relaxations
Elevations, maybe we can talk about Psalms in entirety

Or maybe we can see a movie
Or maybe we can see a play on Saturday
Or maybe we can roll a tree and feel the breeze and listen to a symphony
Or maybe we could chill and just be, or maybe
Maybe we can take a cruise and listen to the Roots or maybe eat some passion fruit
Or maybe cry to the blues
Or maybe we could just be silent
Come on

Let's take a long walk around the park after dark
Find a spot for us to spark
Conversation, verbal elation, stimulation
Share our situations, temptations, education, relaxations
Elevations, maybe baby, maybe we can save the nation
Come on, Come on

I've always liked this song. I haven't heard any Jill Scott in a while, maybe I just havent been listening?
Im having some major eyelash envy over here. I wonder if theyre real. (I bet you never thought you'd hear that question being asked about eye lashes.)

I haven't heard her for a while, either, but then I don't listen too much to music radio (preferring talk radio & my own music selections), so I just pulled out her CD last night to listen to, after being exhausted from emailing a paper in before midnight, so I could still get credit for it being submitted on "Friday".

Now that you mention it, that one eyelash looks almost too perfect. But then again, some people really do have eyelashes like that, so it's hard to say. I remember as a kid older female relatives "plucking" my younger brother's long lashes, to stick into their own. How could that even work? I guess they figured he didn't really need "fluttery" eyes, but that they did!

Oh, and I like the video to that song, too. Makes me think of Northeast Denver, Jr. High school, and a simpler, laid back time in some ways.

The video was nice! The song is ok. I liked the video more than the song.

Did you say they plucked his eye lashes? And he didnt bite someone's fingers off?!
Your brother must be awfully patient, or awfully even tempered.
People do add lashes one by one. I'd never really heard of that until the big Madonna and the mink debacle.

I guess he had plenty of eyelash to around at the time. He figured he'd just share as he wouldn't miss just a few. Plus he was only about 6 or 7, so he did what the big people (the 16-20 yr olds) said.

"Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1" is the CD that I have. Her music is very good, Jocelyn, you should give it a check out!
