I Wanna Get Next To You

I WANNA GET NEXT TO YOU
Rose Royce

Sittin' here in this chair waitin' on you
Ah baby, to see things my way
But not a word do you say
You won't even look my way
Girl, I'm spending my dimes, wasting
My time, talking till I'm black and blue
Ah, can't you see I wanna get next to you

Dreams of you and I go sailing by
Whenever your eyes meet mine
(You're so fine)
And girl you make me feel so insecure
You're so beautiful and pure,
Why must you be unkind
(And tell me I'm not your kind, blowin my mind)
Girl, my, my money is low and I know
That I can't take you to the
Fancy places you might wanna go
Still I wanna get next to you
I wanna get next to you

Girl, you can bend me, shake me, make me
Whatever it takes to please you
I'm willing to do
'Cause you're my dream come true
And I wanna get next to you

I wanna get next to you
I wanna make you mine (for all the time)
I wanna get next to you
I promise I'll never make you blue
I wanna get next to you
I wanna get next to you

This guy at the above banner has one great site! He's got all the great old school songs, which you can play off of his page. He also has this great retrospective photo tour of NYC, especially the Latino areas of the city. I haven't heard this song in so long! Oh, man!

lol @ Aneesa, I wish I could tell you it gets better with age Aneesa, whereas they forget because of...*other things*, by the time you fast forward 10 years, they just plain forget. Dont even remember they said any such thing. Selective Senility.

Frank, Ive never heard this song before. Is Rose Royce the name of a group? It's not the name of a dude is it? If it came out now though, it would perfectly fine if it were a girl....

Were you two able to actually play and hear this song, or only just to read it? It does take a minute or two to download though. I can play them here, with a 56k phone connection, and I saved several to Real Player to play again (and again). It's really a great song to hear.

The guy singing says, "I promise I'll never make you blue". Now how you could you not believe him, after a song like that? (Ok, I know, I know...)

Willowtree, Rose Royce (a play on Rolls Royce) is actually a group from the '70's. If you've ever heard the song, "Car Wash", they did that song, and the soundtrack to that movie. "Wishing On A Star" is another big hit of theirs, and they had a number of other hits also. On this song a guy is the lead, but in some of the other hits, like "Wishing...", they used a female member to do that song. Just saying that, reminds me of how music seems so different today!

Frank, you want to tell me the addition of some melody changes the song? :p I dont think so.
Ive heard the car wash song and wishing on a star, I think somsone may have covered that one, but I didnt know the name of the band at all. My mom never used to allow us to listen to the radio when we were younger, any songs of that time I got through classmates or my neighbour, hehe. I think I was 12 when we got radio time.

I was just curious if you guys actually could hear the song; sometimes these things don't play on everyone's system (although my system is REAL basic, and I could hear them. I just stuck some simple radio headphones into my laptop.

But I do see your point, a simple melody can't change men and their "ways". MEN,..*rolling eyes*...
lol
