Cowboy Take Me Away

The Dixie Chicks have been through some rough times recently, because they spoke truth to power, and they had to pay a price for it. But they have a new CD out now, and as the first hit single says, they're Not (yet) ready to play nice. No apologies. If you like quality music, check into their new CD. In the meantime, here's a Chick classic, posted by a Colorado fan from the land of wide open spaces:

Cowboy Take Me Away
Dixie Chicks

I said I wanna touch the earth
I wanna break it in my hands
I wanna grow something wild and unruly

I wanna sleep on the hard ground
In the comfort of your arms
On a pillow of bluebonnets
In a blanket made of stars

Oh it sounds good to me
I said,
Cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can
Into the wild blue
Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above and
Closer to you,
closer to you

I wanna walk and not run
I wanna skip and not fall
I wanna look at the horizon
And not see a building standing tall

I wanna be the only one
For miles and miles
Except for maybe you
And your simple smile

Oh it sounds good to me
Yes it sounds so good to me

Cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can
Into the wild blue
Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above and
Closer to you
closer to you

I said I wanna touch the earth
I wanna break it in my hands
I wanna grow something wild and unruly
Oh it sounds so good to me

Cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can
Into the wild blue
Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above and
Closer to you, closer to you
Closer to you
Cowboy take me away
Closer to you

The Dixie Chicks are master musicians and great vocalists, something more rare these days, and Natalie Maines, well, that voice says it all. I think a lot of people say, I don't really like Country, but whoa, I like this, whatever it is! It'll be interesting to see how they transition more into Pop and Rock, but I'm always going love what they've already done.

And they do Texas proud (somebody has to!)

I have some dixie chicks music somewhere in my stash, I havent heard this one yet though, Ill have to give it a listen. I came across this site that shows how easy it is to create a speech for GWB. I thought you'd get a laugh...or a groan out of it.
Write a Speech for George Bush

That Earl song seems quite popular with the ladies - though it gives me the chills, strangely enough!

That's pretty good, a bunch of ol' standard Bush maxims; you just mix and match and you get a speech that doesn't say anything different from any other one. I think it's a pre-war creation (or pre-invasion, as the war continues), because there's no, "I'm the decider!".
