Down On Mainstreet

I heard this one while driving around today. An old favorite. I stayed in the car to hear all of it, once again.

Main Street
Words and music by Bob Seger

I remember standing on the corner at midnight
Tryin' to get my courage up
There was this long lovely dancer in a little club downtown
Loved to watch her do her stuff
Through the long lonely nights she filled my sleep
Her body softly swaying to that smoky beat
Down on mainstreet

In the pool halls; the hustlers and the losers
I used to watch 'em through the glass
Well i'd stand outside at closing time
Just to watch her walk on past
Unlike all the other ladies, she looked so young and sweet
As she made her way alone down that empty street
Down on mainstreet

And sometimes even now, when i'm feeling lonely and beat
I drift back in time and i find my feet
Down on mainstreet
Down on mainstreet
Down on mainstreet
Down on mainstreet

I feel like I know this song, but no tune is coming to me.

It's kind of an older rock classic, so you've probably heard it in any number of places. Try to listen to it sometime, it does have a great, memorable tune also, and Bob Seger's great voice (He also did "Like A Rock", which was used in those Ford truck commercials).

This site came up in my Google Ad area. It says free downloads. Maybe you'd like to try it out. As I'm using Windows 98, I'm pretty sure it won't work for me (though I might try, just to make sure, later), you might be able to get it, and hopefully a lot of other stuff.

I got the song Frank. I like it alot. I use edonkey (yes, it's a real place) to download music. It's not bad, because it connects to two different servers, so if you cant get the music at one, you might be able to get it at another.
